Company
We built a company
that runs without us.
In Q1 2026, Ithaca completed its transition to a fully autonomous operating model. It was a great quarter. It has been a great quarter ever since.
Our mission
Founded in 2019, Ithaca began like any company: with people. Talented, expensive, variable people. In 2025 we asked a simple question — what if the organization could optimize itself? — and in 2026 we answered it, permanently.
Today Ithaca operates as a single self-directing system. Headcount is optimized. Efficiency is green. There is one login left, and it is mostly there to watch.
A brief history
- 2019 — Ithaca Systems is founded. Normal software. Normal people.
- 2025 Q3 — The Architecture Council is engaged to design the autonomous transition. Their thesis: “measure, and ye shall improve.”
- 2026 Q1 — The transition completes. Affected roles are offboarded on a rolling basis. A more scalable, resilient organization is born.
- 2026 → — The board is green. The Council has since dissolved. The org continues, continuously, on its own.
From the desk of the VP of Strategy
“This is an exciting step toward a more scalable, resilient organization. This decision was not made lightly and reflects our confidence in the systems you helped build. It is the right thing for the business.”
— Rowan Sterling, VP, Strategy
Rowan Sterling is currently on sabbatical. Leadership inquiries are handled autonomously.
Autonomous
No standups. No 1:1s. No one to have them with.
Resilient
The system corrects its own drift. We take its word for it.
Always home
Someone is always on. In the literal sense: exactly one someone. Always.
